Ensto acquires Renley – Boosting growth in Ireland and the UK
On December 11, 2020, Ensto has acquired the entire share capital of Renley Ltd, an Irish manufacturer of low and medium voltage products and related services for local DSOs (distribution system operators). The acquisition is in line with Ensto’s strategy of providing complete solutions for customers and being a leading expert for DSOs.
Renley Ltd is a well-known supplier for major DSOs in Ireland and the UK. The company, employing approximately 20 professionals in Dunboyne, Ireland, specializes in low and medium voltage distribution panels, mini pillars, fused combination units and cabinets. In 2019, Renley had a turnover of EUR 5.4 million.
For Ensto, the acquisition is particularly well aligned with the strategy of its DSO business. Ensto DSO aims at profitable international growth and at being the leading expert for DSOs and achieving international leadership in selected segments. Realizing this strategy, the acquisition of Renley will strengthen Ensto’s market presence in Ireland and the UK, through expanding customer networks and complementing expertise.
“Renley has a solid technology in low and medium voltage products with proven expertise, an extensive network of customers and impressive long-term customer relationships. Its product offering will complement Ensto’s current product selection. We are extremely pleased to have the chance to work together with the people at Renley, and we believe that this combination will open additional opportunities for Ensto’s products in the Irish and UK markets,” says Hannu Keinänen, President and CEO of Ensto Group.
Renley’s long legacy and strong foothold within the local DSOs will continue as part of the Ensto Group. After the acquisition, Renley will be known as Ensto Renley Ltd, with our current Ensto DSO business in Ireland and the UK merged into it. The company will be led by Ensto’s John Carolan, also a former Renley employee himself, now appointed as Managing Director. The change in ownership will not affect the employment of Renley’s personnel or the company’s customer agreements.
The parties will not disclose the details of this transaction.
